Yesterday in our winery we were able to enjoy a visit from the Sommeliers of La Rioja. Thanks to the members who participated in our “high altitude enogastronomic experience” organised by our winery with Jamón Sobrón Martínez Embutidos (cured meats) in our village, Baños de Río Tobía, with a great tradition of sausage making and with our vineyards on the edge of the Rioja region.
The first part of the visit started with a tour of the Jamón Sobrón Martínez Embutidos company, located opposite our winery, where the host, Gerardo Sobrón, the third generation of his family, showed how they carry out the production and curing processes of cured meats and hams using artisan techniques.
Next, Clemente García, presented his project which bears his own name to the guests. How he recovered and brought his grandfather’s old winery back to life in his 16th century family home to convert it into what is today’s Bodegas Clemente, maintaining its original architecture and essence.
The visit couldn’t have ended better than with a tasting of our Clemente García wines accompanied by an assorted variety of Jamón Sobrón Martínez Embutidos cured meats.
Thanks to all those from La Rioja Sommeliers association for coming to share with us this gastronomic experience.
It was a real pleasure!
